American Corner Lamu promoted EducationUSA and eLibraryUSA in Lamu to over 150 participants including librarians, teachers, American Corner members, students and youth on March 11. American Corner Coordinator Ms. Fatma al-Busaidy introduced the American Corner resources, programs and activities. U.S. Embassy Nairobi American Reference Center (ARC) staff talked to participants about EducationUSA’s 5 steps to studying in the United States which are 1) Research Your Options, 2) Complete Your Application, 3) Finance Your Studies, 4) Apply for Your Student Visa, and 5) Prepare for Your Departure. ARC staff also explained how to register for eLibraryUSA.
Lamu, known as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) site, has few educational resources, and the American Corner provides an important venue for educational materials and internet access.
