Routine Consular Services
We advise all U.S. citizens in Kenya to check the expiration date of their passport and, if necessary, to click here to make an appointment for routine passport renewal services. We are experiencing up to two months’ wait time for routine passport services, and the wait time will continue to grow during the busy holiday season. Please plan accordingly.
We are also experiencing long wait times for routine Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) appointments and are scheduling past the spring of 2022.
For notary services, please click here to schedule an appointment. We are currently experiencing a wait time of one month, so please plan accordingly.
If you have submitted documents in support of a previous application, you may experience long waits for review.
If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021. For more information, please click here.
To submit a request for an emergency service, please email Kenya_acs@state.gov with your travel itinerary if necessary. Emergency services include a need for urgent travel to the United States for the passport holder (for passport renewals) or child (for CRBA services) amid life-or-death situations. A travel itinerary will be required.
The last year and a half has seen an unprecedented worldwide crisis. We look forward to returning to normal operations. However, for now, we will continue to provide services in line with our COVID-19 mitigation measures for your safety. We appreciate your patience.
