The U.S. Embassy Nairobi Cultural Affairs Office and the Kenya Muslim Youth Alliance (KMYA) Host Nairobi County Youth Interfaith Iftar Dinner

The U.S. Embassy Nairobi Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) together with the Kenya Muslim Youth Alliance (KMYA) hosted the Nairobi County Youth Interfaith Iftar dinner. Participants included Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum President Ahmed Hadji, Muslim Scholar Attorney Ibrahim Lethome, Nairobi-based counselor Mariam Kibunjia, CAO Acting Officer Eddie Sagitto and CAO Outreach Coordinator Rukiya Mwinyi.

Youth present at the dinner enjoyed the iftar meal and speeches by participants.

“By talking with each, it does not mean that you have to remove your identity as a Christian or a Muslim,” said Ibrahim Lethome. Eddie Sagitto read a statement on behalf of U.S. President Barack Obama saying, “the month of fasting is the month of giving and reaching out to assist those afflicted by conflict, hunger, poverty and disease.”
