U.S. Embassy Nairobi Supports African Women Entrepreneurship Program Training

Fifty women at the Dagoretti Empowerment Centre successfully completed two five-day U.S. Embassy Nairobi-sponsored entrepreneurship workshops on November 18, 2014.  Kawangware resident Viriginia Kinoro, an African Women Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) alumna, led the workshops.  Cultural Affairs Officer Chris Snipes was present at the training and awarded the participants their certificates.

The purpose of the training was to enhance knowledge and capacity of local business women and aspiring entrepreneurs to manage and run their businesses and to provide practical information on business startups, leadership, budgeting, pricing, stock control, bank services, working capital, savings, and general business management.  Ms. Kinoro will follow up the training with ongoing individual mentoring for the participants, to enhance support to the women over a longer period of time.
